xWordSolver
Introduction
xWordSolver assists crossword solvers by finding words that match a pattern and other word game players by finding anagrams and other words created using a given set of letters.
Requirements
xWordSolver does not require any special permissions. Internet connectivity is necessary only to define words.
Match Pattern
xWordSolver will find words that match simple patterns. This is useful for solving crossword clues where only some of the answer's letters are known. Patterns are created by entering known letters and replacing unknown letters with question marks (?). For example, the pattern s?e??lat? will match the word speculate. As a short-cut, any non-letter character, e.g, space ( ), period (.), or nine (9) will be replaced with a question mark.
To solve a word pattern, enter the pattern into the edit field and tap the Match Pattern button. xWordSolver will search the selected dictionaries and display all words matching the pattern.
Find Words
xWordSolver will find all the possible 2+ letter words created from the letters entered. This is useful in games such as Scrabble, Words With Friends, or Bananagrams for finding words from a given set of letters.
Enter a set of letters to search for, optionally include up to two wildcards (?), and tap the Find Words button. For example, tsno?.
Results will include all words (2+ letters) containing only the letters (along with any wildcards) entered.
Caution, depending on device speed and memory, Find Words searches with two wildcards can take up to one minute to execute.
Anagrams
xWordSolver can find anagrams of any word or set of letters. To find anagrams, simply enter a word or set of letters with no wildcards and tap the Find Words button. Any result that is the same length as original set of letters is an anagram.
